I’ve been experimenting with AI tools for productivity and creativity lately. When it comes to story and storytelling, though, I’ve often found the experience a little hollow. The writing is clean, precise, and often impressive, but it can lack soul.

So I created a tool that doesn’t write for me so much as write with me.

It asks questions, probes stories, and challenges ideas so I can develop material in a way that feels a lot like being on stage improvising a scene and figuring it out one line at a time. One moment at a time.

It’s still in a rough, early state, but I think it’s ready to be tried if you’re curious and willing.

A few things to know:

• No login or sign-up is required right now.

• I can’t see what you’re writing. Nothing is shared with me or stored in a cloud drive or backup system. Your stories are saved locally on the device you’re using.

• If something great comes out of the process, I’d recommend using the download functions to save your work.

• Most importantly, I’d love to hear your feedback about what works, what doesn’t, and what you’d like to see improved.

The basic process works like this:

Start with an idea, memory, or story spark.
Add to it however you like, or follow w the coaching prompts. The coach will never write the story for you. Instead, it asks questions designed to dig into both the story and the story beneath the story.
As the story develops, you’ll see your progress mapped against the Kenn Adams’ Story Spine, shown along the top or side of the screen.
As more of the spine takes shape, fireflies begin appearing around the lantern as a visual indicator of your story’s growth.
Once you’ve reached roughly 75% completion on the Story Spine, additional discovery tools become available. These can help recap the story you’ve told so far and generate a simple beat-by-beat outline you can use as a reference when writing or performing the story.
